Who Built It
John and Polly Wagnon’s House
Spring Haven was built in the early 1800s, around 1825, as the home of John Wagnon and his wife, Polly. John was Andrew Jackson’s personal physician as well as a close friend, and Jackson came to the house often.
Set the mansion beside the Hermitage, Jackson’s own home a short way off, and you’ll find many of the same design elements.
The Grounds
What Still Stands on the Property
The two-story house stands on tree-shaded grounds at 1 Spring Haven Ct in Hendersonville, a few hundred yards from Old Hickory Lake and 22 miles from downtown Nashville. Four more buildings stand around it.
The Cabin
Older than the mansion itself: it dates to around 1800.
The Spring
A natural spring, with its spring house beside it.
Smoke House & Barn
The original smoke house, and a barn that couples use as a photo backdrop.
Spring Haven Today
A House for Weddings and Gatherings
These days the house hosts weddings, elopements and corporate gatherings. Inside are formal parlors and private dressing areas. Outside, the covered terrace holds up to 125 guests, with uplighting, a handcrafted wooden bar and, on cool fall nights, fire lamps.
Weddings book as one of three collections, for up to 40, 100 or 125 guests. Smaller ceremonies use one of five elopement packages.
